With my final semester of college fast approaching its end, I’m sort of facing a wall of uncertainty right now. I don’t really know what I want to do, and when I don’t know what I want to do, I don’t do well with making decisions. So instead of doing things I’m actually supposed to do, I’m going to ignore it all and think about things that don’t turn me into a ball of stress. And something that doesn’t turn me into a ball of stress is spring!
Although we’re now halfway through April, I want to focus on spring things that I’m looking forward to. So instead of figuring out my marketing statistics assignment that’s due tomorrow, I’m going to write out a list of exciting things this spring will bring. (That had a nice ring to it, no?)
Anyway – spring is filled with happy things and lovely weather and new possibilities. It brings new seasons of TV shows and new books and baby animals. People wear pretty clothes and bright flowers bloom and it’s just an all around joyful time.
Specifically, these are the things I’m currently looking forward to this spring:
(Which was today. So if you celebrate Easter – happy Easter! And if you don’t celebrate Easter – happy Sunday!) For me, Easter always involves getting together with my family and eating food and playing games at one of my grandmother’s houses. We used to go to one grandma’s on Saturday and the other on Sunday – but now we just combine both families and go to one house on Sunday. It’s just one big party now.
- April Showers!!
I love rain. I’ve always loved when it rains. Especially in spring and summer when it’s warm and breezy. I love the sound, I love the air, I love that it gets kind of dark – it’s all so comforting and peaceful.
- May Flowers!!!
And of course with April showers comes May flowers (or so the saying goes). Flowers are in bloom and the bushes bud and the trees look beautiful and the street is always covered in pink flower petals.
- Breezy warm weather
I live in MD so honestly you never know. Just a couple of days ago the weather felt more like the beginning of February than the middle of April. And today it felt like the middle of summer. But hopefully breezy warm weather is just around the corner!
- Open windows and natural light
Spring brings longer days and warmer weather which makes it a great time to open windows and let in some natural light and fresh air. (For some reason open windows and natural light usually encourages me to clean more too.)
Or at least the being done with classes part – not the finding a job and figuring out what I want to do part.
- Pretty Little Liars
Alright so I have a love-hate relationship with Pretty Little Liars – there are just so many outlandish plots, characters, and dialogue in the show – and I could rant about it all for days. BUT – I’ve been watching it from the beginning – for 7 years now – and I’m not about to just quit when we’re so close to the end of the story after I’ve already invested so much of my life into these girls!
- Farmers’ markets and strawberries!
Spring usually means farmers’ markets are emerging and outdoor shopping festivals and craft shows are in full swing. And strawberries are in season!
- Maxi skirts
Warmer weather and bright days means maxi skirts – which I love. They’re the perfect mix of comfortable and flattering!
- Mother’s Day
The last couple of years for Mother’s Day we’ve had a brunch at our home for my mom and both of my grandmas. And it usually involves good food, good company, and a mimosa or two.
(or 5 – it’s fine.)
Is there anything else specific to spring that I’m missing? Events, holidays, new books, news?
