Wine, mountains, and good people by a pool.
While there’s definitely something to be said for the full-out, chick-flicky, Vegas style bachelorette party, the ‘relaxed weekend at a vineyard’ bachelorette party should not be underestimated. You get gorgeous views, a more personal setting, time to lay out in the sun, and most importantly, a ton of wine.
For my future sister-in-law’s bachelorette party we spent the weekend at a house on the Cardinal Point Vineyard in Afton, Virginia. The Cardinal Point Winery was located directly at the bottom of the hill from the house – and the wine was good. No, not good. Great.
And while the wine was great, the views were even greater.
Also – on this particular vineyard these two dogs, Jack and Jimmy, were known to just wander around and hang out with everybody they came across. They hung out with us pretty much all day on Sunday and we were glad to have them! (I even made a separate post about my love for them.)
Cidery’s and Distillery’s
We were told that there are over 230 wineries in Virginia – which I definitely believe because in the area we were staying alone there seemed to be a winery around every single curve in the road. So of course we tried out a few different wineries during the weekend. (And also checked out some other fun places.) Overall we went to three different wineries, one cidery, and one vodka/gin distillery.
The Bold Rock Hard Cider Cidery had great pear hard cider that I was really into. And I’m not usually that into ciders because I associate them with being too sweet. The cidery was surrounded by mountains, they had games like cornhole for people to play, you could order food, and it had a cool treehouse vibe with a deck built around some trees. I easily could have spent hours there.
We didn’t spend a lot of time at the Silverback Distillery but we could get bloody mary’s there so basically they have my heart.
Cardinal Point Winery
While wine isn’t normally my go-to drink, Cardinal Point Winery offered a sweeter white wine (their Quattro) that I really, really enjoyed. (It was their most popular white wine.) And we drank that outside where there was live music and a nice breeze. That actually sounds like a pretty fail-proof formula for happiness: wine + fresh air + live music.
We brought some cookies, fruit, cheese, and chicken salad sandwiches with us too – so we were set.
For the bachelorette party weekend the maid of honor made these cute diy wine glasses for all the bridesmaids! The red of the dressed up wine glass is pretty close to the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses.
And the weather was beautiful all weekend which was just the icing on the cake!
I would definitely stay at this house again and would love to go back to Cardinal Point Winery. I’m also officially an advocate for the vineyard-weekend bachelorette party.
Are you more of a ‘chill weekend at the vineyard for a bachelorette party’ kind of person? Or do you want the full Vegas experience?
I think they both probably have their perks. I’m definitely more comfortable chilling by the pool drinking wine though. 🙂
~And I’m now looking forward to the wedding in October!
